Trokaz: From all addresses in the EU, only praise can be heard on behalf of Montenegro

The Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorčević, met with the special envoy of France for the Western Balkans, René Trokaz, who said that he sees Montenegro as a leader in the process of joining the European Union.

"From all addresses in the European Union and member countries, only praise is heard about Montenegro and what you achieved in the previous year. The efforts you make and the results you have achieved are recognized and we want to encourage you to continue," said Trokaz.

The Ministry of European Affairs announced that he praised the fact that "the entire government is involved in the negotiation process" and is working to meet the benchmarks through membership "in the negotiation structure that numbers almost 800 people".

The special envoy of France was also interested in the situation in the negotiation chapter 27 - Environmental protection, that is, in the plan to meet the demanding standards in that area.

Minister Gorčević said that Montenegro is preparing for the Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels next week, when it hopes to close four chapters in which the benchmarks are 100% fulfilled.

She looked back at everything the Government had done in the past period and recalled the three held Inter-Governmental Conferences, the received positive Report on the fulfillment of temporary benchmarks for Chapters 23 and 24 (IBAR), the adopted Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and the accession to the Single Payment Area in euros - SEPA.

"The progress we have achieved also serves as motivation for other candidate countries because it shows that the enlargement process is still alive and that the EU is within our reach," she said.

The minister said that France's support is of great importance for Montenegro's European path, and that in the next two years, all the expert help our country can get will be valuable.
