The proposal to put the Resolution on the genocide in Šahovići on the agenda of the Assembly was not included, because 24 MPs voted for it, while 16 were against and 20 abstained.
On behalf of the group of representatives of the Bosniak Party (BS), the parliamentarian of that entity, Jasmin Ćorović, requested that this proposal be put on the agenda of the session.
"No one has ever been held accountable for this crime and no one has ever been convicted. I will remind you that this crime was committed in peacetime. With this resolution, we do not want to point the finger at anyone, at any nation, but we want some kind of satisfaction for the murderers and their families. The goal of this resolution is to ensure that a crime like this, which happened exactly 100 years ago and was kept silent, never happens again in Montenegro resolution. No, gentlemen, there was a lot of genocide, killing, and suffering, and resolutions are just a civilized way to face that past," said Ćorović and added that the resolution was "a test of society's maturity" and that it was proposed on the form " conciliatory politics".
As he said, they expect support from both the government and the opposition.
Deputy of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Abaz Dizdarević pointed out that his club will support the resolution being on the agenda, but that it will be declared later, because it is possible that it will be subject to changes.
The president of the Pokreta Evropa Sad (PES) parliamentary group, Vasilije Čarapić, announced that in Barometer 26, the establishment of a special mechanism is foreseen, which will include working groups and parliamentary committees that will have expert support, and where such topics would be discussed "in an atmosphere of unity" and "seek a consensual path to the adoption of various resolutions".
"Since the Barometer foresees that this mechanism will be established at the first subsequent meeting of the presidents of the parties of the parliamentary majority, i.e. the signatories of the Barometer, I believe that the adoption of this point now would be contrary to what was agreed at the level of the political subjects of the majority. In this context, we will stick to what was agreed upon by the Government and be restrained," he said.
Ćorović replied that this proposal was submitted before the Barometer, and that it was signed by the Committee for the Commemoration of Genocide, and signed by members of many parties, not only BS.
The head of the parliament, Andrija Mandić, announced that there are a large number of resolutions in the office of that institution.
"Some of them were initiated as early as 2007. To accept the resolution of the Council of Europe on the condemnation of totalitarian regimes, on the Prague Declaration. We have groups of citizens from Vraneš who demand the condemnation of the crime that happened in 1906. So, this is not a single resolution. MP Nikola Camaj proposed a resolution that would cover all crimes. There is no doubt that a serious crime took place in Vraneš in 1924," he said and added that there are "at least a dozen resolutions that have been waiting for years to be put on the agenda" in the procedure.
After the proposal was not included, Ćorović stated that it shows that "as a society we have not matured", and that he hopes that the citizens "will know how to appreciate" in the next elections.
Mandić replied that he said the same thing in 2007 when "there was no readiness to adopt a resolution condemning the crimes of totalitarian regimes".
