It is indicative that the government, after endangering the country's European path by worsening relations with Croatia, seems to have decided to destabilize the defense and security system, the cabinet of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, said.
In the press release delivered to the media from the president's office, it is emphasized that the duty and obligation of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić was to attend today's session of the Defense and Security Council, and not to not appear at it without any notification or explanation and block the work of this important body.
If Spajić really cared about the army, he would not have allowed Defense Minister Dragan Krapović to illegally take over the powers of the Council and prevent Chief of General Staff Zoran Lazarević from performing his duties in full capacity, the statement points out.
"We remind the prime minister that almost four months after the Defense and Security Council made a decision on Montenegro's accession to the EU support mechanism for Ukraine, the parliamentary majority does not want to finalize that decision by adopting it in the Assembly, which clearly shows a deviation from the EU's common foreign and security policy. We also remind you that the Government has not proposed a candidate for ambassador to the NATO Alliance for more than a year," the president's office states.
They add that someone will be held responsible for making such "politician decisions".
"All this indicates that the prime minister's irresponsible behavior is unprecedented," the president's cabinet concluded.
