Satler: We encourage all political actors to prioritize the remaining work on electoral reform

We welcome yesterday's extension of the mandate of the Parliamentary Committee for Comprehensive Electoral Reform, announced the head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Montenegro, Johan Satler.

"In this context, we encourage all political actors to prioritize the remaining work on electoral reform, including improving transparency in line with OSCE/ODIHR recommendations and reaching a political agreement to hold all local elections on the same day, in order to end the practice of almost continuous election campaigning. This would contribute to maintaining the political focus on reforms and decisions related to the EU, in the best interest of all Montenegrin citizens," said Satler, according to the post of the EU Delegation on the social network. X.

He added that electoral reform is also crucial in the context of Montenegro's obligations under the Reform Agenda.

Yesterday, the Parliament of Montenegro adopted the proposal of the members of the Committee for Comprehensive Electoral Reform to extend the deadline for the work of that body until December 31 of the following year.
