The President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić said that he understands the cancellation of the meeting with the President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola and that he does not think that it is a negative intention.
The MP of the URA Civic Movement, Filip Adžić, said during the parliamentary session, commenting on the fact that Metsola canceled the meeting with Mandić, that there had been a scandal for parliamentary life and for the entire country.
"A diplomatic slap was sent to the parliamentary majority and to Mandić himself. You are not a partner of the European Union (EU) and that is clear," said Adžić.
Mandic replied that he understood the reasons communicated to him by the EP regarding Metsola's obligations
"I understand what I received from the EP regarding Metsola and its obligations. I don't think that it is directly related to anything or that there is a negative intention," Mandic said.
He said that it will be seen what the results of the intergovernmental conference will be.
"I do not believe that Montenegro will not make a big step forward. We all expect that in Montenegro and in this parliament, we are all working for the country to become a member of the EU as soon as possible", said Mandić.
He said that the parliament has done everything related to the European agenda.
“We passed a lot of laws. When the talks with the EU are over, we will see the results, so I would like to discuss then", Mandic said.
He added that he said in many addresses that he wants "Montenegro in the EU with an upright spine".
