The President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola announced that she will soon come to Montenegro and said that her support for the efforts of the Assembly and the state is clear and unequivocal, it was reported from the Assembly's Public Relations Department.
The announcement states that the President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić had a telephone conversation with Metsol.
Mandic, as reported from the Assembly, conveyed his absolute understanding for family reasons that prevented Metsol from having their first meeting live.
"Metsola expressed a deep apology, and thanked Mandić for his concern regarding her family situation and for his understanding that their meeting this time did not take place live, but through a telephone conversation," the statement said.
Mandić, as stated, conveyed the message of the Parliament and citizens of Montenegro about their complete commitment to the process of European integration, "which is reflected in the historic results achieved by the 28th convocation of the Parliament, which he heads."
"He pointed out that the current convocation has done more on the European road than any previous one since 2006. He also confirmed the readiness of the current convocation of the Assembly to continue the results in the future, which will surely bring the country into the European family of nations," the announcement says.
It is stated that in this context, Metsola gave great recognition to the Assembly and Mandic for the efforts they made in previous years and added that they have an ally and a sincere and reliable friend in her.
Mandić, as the Assembly said, pointed to the fact that there are certain MPs in the EP who do not speak favorably of him personally and that he accepts freedom of opinion and such a reality.
"Ali pointed out that the results he achieved at the head of this house speak best and most clearly about his commitment to the European path," the announcement added.
The Assembly said that Metsola thanked Mandić for such an attitude and pointed out that her opinion and attitude towards the Assembly and the state of Montenegro cannot be influenced by individual voices that can often be heard in the European Parliament and that her support for the efforts of the Assembly and the state is clear and unequivocal.
"In the further conversation, Metsola announced its imminent arrival in Montenegro, and in that context, Mandić expressed his satisfaction that he will have the opportunity to be her host," said the Assembly.
At the end of the conversation, as stated in the announcement, direct future communication and cooperation between the cabinet of Mandić and Metsola was agreed upon.
