While many citizens are struggling to survive, the former director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, not only obtained financial benefits for herself, but also provided the same benefit to members of the Council and unemployed persons in the Agency, to whom she paid travel expenses as much as 15 times, announced today Albin Ćeman, deputy of Democratic Montenegro.
"Based on the information published by Vijesti, we learn that the cabinet of the former director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Jelena Perović, was anything but a cabinet of transparency and the fight against corruption. More seals were found than the institution needed - seals that could have been misused For who knows what purpose. Also, in the office were found files and copies of cases related to state enterprises such as the Airport of Montenegro, ToMontenegro, Radio-television of Montenegro, and even letters from the Tax Office. administration related to former members of the Council of the Agency", Ćeman pointed out in the announcement.
"Vijesti" announced today that the Basic State Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether there could have been misuse of the official seals of the ASK during the mandate of Perović, accused of abuse of official position.
"Vijesti" learned that it is about documentation - a list of things found in the office of the director of the Agency, which was made on the first working day of Dušan Drakić in the position of acting director of that institution.
Ćeman asks in the statement - "is this a model of an institution that should be an example of the fight against corruption?"
"On the contrary, this is the embodiment of the privatization and politicization of one of the most important state agencies, an institution that should protect the public interest, and not become a tool for the implementation of the interests of the parties that elected and appointed it, to abuse its power in their name and at their behest position", said Ceman.
He said "let's remember the facts".
"Budget inspectors determined that based on illegal decisions for the variable part of earnings and overtime work, she personally earned 13.500 euros. But that's not the end, based on decisions for working in work groups that were passed outside the law, she earned herself an additional 8.722 euros. And That's not all. The Special State Prosecutor's Office charges her with seven extended criminal offenses of abuse of official position, two criminal offenses of abuse of official position and one extended criminal offense of forgery. Imagine, while many citizens are struggling to survive, the former director of ASK not only obtained financial benefits for herself, but also provided the same benefit to Council members and unemployed persons in the Agency, to whom she paid travel expenses as much as 15 times. She paid for transportation and accommodation for private persons from the Agency's budget, traveled with her daughter privately and justified these expenses as business trips, shared iPhones with family members, and her minor's phone bills daughters were paid for by the citizens of Montenegro," Ćeman said.
He finally asks two questions
"Was it because of such people and such abuses that we built institutions and believed in them? Does anyone still believe that this is an accident? Is it possible that the parties that delegated it did not know what was happening? Or was this all part of a broader plan to turn institutions into private services of the political powerful and their henchmen?"
