The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, received today the letters of credence of the newly appointed, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Switzerland, Canada and Sri Lanka - Anne Lugon Moulin, Michelle Cameron and Varuna Muthukumarane of Lanka.
Milatović, as announced by his cabinet, in separate conversations at the residence in Cetinje, wished the female ambassadors a welcome to Montenegro and a successful performance of their diplomatic mission.
The press release states that the conversation with Lugon Mullen confirmed the excellent and friendly relations between the two countries, as well as highlighted the need to strengthen political dialogue at the highest level.
"Milatović expressed his interest in further strengthening economic cooperation, bearing in mind that Switzerland was among the three largest foreign investors in Montenegro during the previous five years," the statement said.
It is stated that during the meeting with Cameron, excellent interstate relations, which are characterized by a strong alliance within NATO, were noted.
Milatović said that the Montenegrin expatriate community in Canada represents an important bridge of rapprochement between the two countries.
"Also, mutual interest was expressed in improving bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of economy through attracting Canadian investments," the announcement states.
Milatović, in a conversation with Varuni Muthukumaran, stated that Montenegro values the friendship it is developing with Sri Lanka.
"At the meeting, it was assessed that there are conditions for deepening cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of tourism, as a strategic economic branch of both countries," says the announcement.
According to reports, Milatović also introduced the ambassadors to the main foreign policy priorities - for Montenegro to become the 2028th member of the European Union by 28, to strengthen its credibility as a member of NATO, to further improve good-neighborly cooperation, as well as its position in multilateral frameworks.
