Great Britain's Ambassador to Montenegro, Don Meken, presented the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, with the British Chiving Award.
The Office for Public Relations of the President of Montenegro announced that Milatović received Meken at his residence in Cetinje.
"On that occasion, Ambassador McCann presented President Milatović with the prestigious British Chiving Award, which was awarded to him for his achievements in the field of politics, because he became the President of Montenegro just ten years after obtaining his degree at Oxford University," the statement said.
Milatović pointed out that it is an honor and a pleasure for him to be this year's winner of the Čivning award, which, as he assessed, apart from being a recognition of his personal involvement, is a confirmation of Montenegro's commitment to strengthening democratic values.
"In my work, I remain committed to the further improvement of relations with the United Kingdom, as well as the achievement of the priority foreign policy goals of our country on the way to full membership of Montenegro in the European Union. The award is proof of the importance of education and leadership that will shape the future of our country, as well as an incentive for everyone who, with their work and ideas, contributes to the creation of a better and more prosperous society," Milatović pointed out.
The announcement adds that Chiving is a renowned scholarship program of the British Government which, since 1983, has been empowering future leaders around the world with scholarships for postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
"The award is given to celebrate the most outstanding achievements of British scholars," the statement concluded.
