The fact that the most important negotiating chapter will not be closed sends a clear message from Brussels that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, Speaker of the Assembly Andrija Mandić and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić have seriously damaged good neighborly relations and slowed down the country's European path, the Civic Movement URA said.

URA MP Ana Novaković Đurović said that Montenegro will temporarily close three negotiation chapters with the European Union (EU), despite assurances from the Government that four will be closed.

She said that the most important of them, Chapter 31 - Foreign, Security and Defense Policy, will not be closed.

Novaković Đurović stated that they welcome the temporary closure of three chapters, which, as she said, were to the greatest extent ready for closure even before the mandate of the 44th Government.

"The fact that the announced fourth chapter, 31 - Foreign, security and defense policy, has not been closed sends a clear message from Brussels that Spajić, Mandić and Bečić have seriously damaged good neighborly relations and regional cooperation and slowed down our European path," Novaković Đurović believes.

She stated that both Spajić and Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević announced in June the closure of up to ten chapters by the end of this year.

"We went from ten to three in a few months of their work," said Novaković Đurović.

According to her, the blocking of Chapter 31 is a clear warning that this majority "with the makeup of reforms and at the same time the collapse of key European values" cannot introduce Montenegro into the EU.

"Because of the 80 percent of Montenegrin citizens who want our country as the next member of the EU, this majority must leave," said Novaković Đurović.
