Montenegro, reaffirming its status as a credible NATO member, actively contributes to the system of collective security and the key tasks and policies of the Alliance, said Defense Minister Dragan Krapović at a meeting with the newly appointed ambassador of Greece in Podgorica, Dimitros Gioldasis.
The Ministry of Defense announced that Krapović wished Gioldasis a successful mandate and thanked him for the comprehensive support that Greece provides to Montenegro on its European and Euro-Atlantic journey.
He, as stated, informed Gioldasis about the success that Montenegro achieved in European integration by closing three negotiation chapters and said that he is convinced that a positive trend will be continued in the direction of achieving the biggest foreign policy goal - membership in the EU.
Krapović emphasized that Montenegro, reaffirming its status as a credible NATO member, makes an active contribution to the system of collective security and to all key tasks and policies of the Alliance.
He assessed the defense cooperation with Greece as extremely meaningful and productive, which is confirmed, among other things, by the training of cadets of the Montenegrin Army at the military academies in Athens, as well as Greece's involvement in the protection of Montenegrin airspace within the NATO Air Policing mission.
Gioldasis stated that he is satisfied with the defense cooperation of the two countries, but also with the alliance under the umbrella of NATO.
He said that Montenegro has proven to be a dedicated and focused member that meets the standards of the Alliance and fulfills part of the obligations arising from membership.
Gioldasis concluded that the overall cooperation between Greece and Montenegro is based on many years of mutual trust and support, as well as mutual aspiration for its further improvement.
