On the day when by decision of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jakov Milatović became the first president of Montenegro who violated the Law on the Financing of Entities and Political Campaigns during the campaign for the Podgorica elections and lost the right to daily moral sermons, he is trying to take over the role of the Constitutional Court and makes decisions on their behalf who violates the Constitution, the Europe Now Movement (PES) announced.
They called on Milatović to publicly refer to the decision of the Constitutional Court (if there is one) in the future when he indicates that the highest legal act is being violated, as he indicated in numerous cases of violations of the Constitution by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the Citizens' Movement URA.
"However, while pointing to the character of the current government, the president of the state tries to hide the inconsistency of the political entity subordinate to him, that he will not negotiate with those who violate the Constitution of Montenegro. At this moment, the local list led by him is negotiating the formation of the government with entities that have repeatedly brutally violated the highest legal act, as pointed out by the president," said PES.
"Also, if he is consistent in his opinion that the current government has a dominantly anti-Montenegrin and anti-European character, we expect him to use his influence and closeness to the mayor of Danilovgrad and convince him of his position. We hope that in the coming period, Milatović will respect the decisions of the institutions and return to acting in accordance with the law," the announcement concludes.
