The meeting of representatives of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the coalition "For a better Podgorica", the European Union and the Party of European Progress (SEP) on the formation of the government in Podgorica, which was planned for tonight, has been postponed - "Vijesti" has learned unofficially.
The "Vijesti" source said that all the paper holders could not attend the official gathering, and therefore the negotiating teams of those parties/coalitions will continue informal communication today.
The holder of the list of the European Union in the elections in Podgorica, Boris Mugoša, announced last night that he hopes that the European Union, DPS, coalition For a better Podgorica and SEP can form the government in the capital already on December 28 (Saturday).
The elections in Podgorica were held on September 29, and DPS won 19 mandates, the coalition of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and Democrats won 14, the alliance "For the Future of Podgorica" 13, the list "Za bolja Podgorica" six, the European Union three, and SEP and the Movement "Revolution" for two mandates each.
Bearing in mind that there are 59 councilors in the Assembly of the Capital City, it is necessary to provide the support of at least 30 of them for the constitution of the government. If the Movement for Podgorica (PzPG) and the Civic Movement (GP) URA - which make up the "For a better Podgorica" list - join forces with DPS, the European Union and SEP, they can reach 30 "hands" for the election of the government. However, as "Vijesti" announced, one PzPG councilor opposes cooperation with DPS, which is why that political arrangement is questionable.
On the other hand, the ruling parties from the state level can establish an administration even without the votes of the GP URA, and with the support of four PzPG councilors. In that case, they would have 31 mandates in the Podgorica parliament.
