The Movement for Podgorica (PzPG) announced this evening that it is inviting the coalition PES-Democrats and the paper Za budućnost Podgorica (ZBPG) to discuss the formation of a government in the capital tomorrow evening.
"In order to consider the program bases for the formation of a new government in Podgorica, we invite our colleagues from the coalition PES-Democrats and ZBCG to a meeting, which would be held tomorrow at 19 p.m. We expect a constructive and responsible approach, the result of which will be the formation of a responsible city administration, for the benefit of all men and women from Podgorica," the Movement for Podgorica told "Vijesta".
The elections in Podgorica were held on September 29, and in them the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) won 19 mandates, the coalition of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and the Democrats won 14, the "For the Future of Podgorica" alliance won 13, the "Za bolja Podgorica" list won six, The European Union has three mandates, and the SEP and the "Revolution" Movement have two mandates each.
Bearing in mind that there are 59 councilors in the Assembly of the Capital City, it is necessary to provide the support of at least 30 of them for the constitution of the government. If the Movement for Podgorica (PzPG) and the Civic Movement (GP) URA - which make up the "For a better Podgorica" list - join forces with DPS, the European Union and SEP, they can reach 30 "hands" for the election of the government. However, as "Vijesti" announced, one PzPG councilor opposes cooperation with DPS, which is why that political arrangement is questionable.
On the other hand, the ruling parties from the state level can establish an administration even without the votes of the GP URA, and with the support of four PzPG councilors. In that case, they would have 31 mandates in the Podgorica parliament.
