The General Secretary of the Civic Movement (GP) URA Zoran Mikić announced that during the negotiations on the formation of the authorities in Podgorica, they sought the position of mayor, secretary of finance and the position of director of construction and development.
GP URA participated in the elections in Podgorica on September 29 on the list "For a better Podgorica", together with the Movement for Podgorica (PzPG), which is close to the head of state Jakov Milatović. They received six mandates, and the holder of that list and candidate for mayor is Luka Rakčević.
"You know that there is a strong wind blowing in Podgorica today, but I don't think it is good in politics for someone to turn the way the wind blows. We will not do that, and if someone else wants to, let them show the time before us. We presented the platform a month ago and clear projects, and during the negotiations we asked for the post of mayor, secretary of finance and the position of director for construction and development," Mikić pointed out in the show "Zorom" on Adria TV.
He said that these functions are necessary in order to implement all projects from the platform.
"Some things that are happening are not clear to me, but let the days ahead show what is at stake. I believe that we will return to the story about principles, to the story about functions. I'm sorry that Podgorica is blocked. No one is talking about that in the last few months Podgorica has lost tens of millions of euros in income, just because the outgoing mayor does not want to do her job. On that basis, Podgorica has not had a single euro of new income in the past few months," Mikić said.
He pointed out that he is afraid that this will continue in the coming period, if politics is reduced to what we had the opportunity to see last night, which, as he states, is the story about the functions.
"We offered a platform and we said that we would discuss those platforms with everyone. Our colleagues from the European Union (EU) invited us, the dominant topic was projects and the way we see the development of Podgorica, how they see the development of Podgorica. Of course, We have said that for us, the starting point is what is written on our platform to fulfill what we put in that platform. These are the position of the mayor, the position of the secretary for finance and the position of the director for construction and development of Podgoric," Mikić said.
On the other hand, he adds, there were discussions about the modalities of how the government can be formed, whether the first president of the assembly should be elected or all political functions should be elected as a package, and so on.
"The rest was to agree on it, let's say, discuss it at the following meetings, until the next meeting came because we could not agree on a time when all the leaders of the coalition lists would be at the meeting. In order to have a situation yesterday that our colleges, according to in my humble judgement, came out in favor of what is the framework of our joint agreement," said Mikić.
He points out that last night there was speculation in the media - "URA came, it didn't come, it will come, it won't come".
"So we will not come to any meeting that was organized in the way yesterday's was organized. So, it was not an official invitation, we learned about that meeting from the media. We found out when the announcement arrived, I think that is not a good way to works in political life. When the meeting was made by colleagues from the European Union, we received an official invitation for talks with the old order proposal and the date when that meeting will take place. We cannot function on an ad hoc basis, today, for tonight. So, I'm now inviting someone to come to the meeting tonight," Mikić said.
He believes that the way the meeting was organized is frivolous, and that the platform was not discussed at the meeting.
"If our colleagues from the parliamentary majority had invited us, said, ok, you offered a platform, we also have something new to offer, we would have considered maybe coming to the meeting. But simply, from a colleague from the parliamentary majority, and probably the entire public , this is evidenced in the previous period. The only thing we want to hear is that some are looking for the position of mayor and others for the position of president of the assembly", says Mikić, adding that the GP URA "will not be a rag of either DPS or DF".
Although the PzPG was allegedly closer to forming a government in the capital with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the rest of the opposition, as of last night, there is a greater chance that they will do so with parties from the state level.
This was assessed by the sources of "Vijesti", familiar with last night's official negotiations of the PzPG, the Europe Now Movement (PES), the Democrats and the list "For the Future of Podgorica", saying that they expect that the formation of the city government could soon be agreed upon.
