The Movement for Podgorica (PzPG) is close to the head of state Jakov Milatović agreed last night, after two formal meetings, on the government in the capital with the ruling parties from the state level, that is, the coalition of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and the Democrats and the list "For the Future of Podgorica".
It was agreed that the new mayor of Podgorica will be Saša Mujović (PES), and the president of the Assembly of the capital Jelena Borovinić Bojović, who has been in that position until now. Mujović will replace her party colleague as mayor Oliver Injac.
The deputy mayor will be Nađa Ljiljanić, while the second deputy will be from the Democrats. The bodies of that party will decide on this in the coming days, "Vijesti" was told.
The ruling parties already govern Podgorica according to that model, only the place that now belongs to PzPG was covered by the Citizens' Movement (GP) URA, which was in the pre-election alliance "For a better Podgorica" with that political actor.
The "Vijesti" source said that the lower positions for the coalitions PES/Democrats and "For the Future of Podgorica" will not change. PzPG could get the functions that now belong to GP URA.
The government in Podgorica consisted of PES (from which PzPG emerged), a coalition gathered around the former Democratic Front (DF), Demokrata and GP URA. The mandate of the capital's Assembly was shortened in June by the votes of the opposition, GP URA and PzPG, after which extraordinary local elections were held on September 29.
Borovinić Bojović told journalists after the meeting that Podgorica will have a new government "which will be better than the current one" and that GP URA will not be part of the new government.
"The city will be led by a majority with 31 councilors from the ranks of the Movement for Podgorica, the Democrats-PES coalition and the coalition for the future of Podgorica," it announced.
She added that today they expect the formalization of technical issues, the signing of the coalition agreement "about which the public will be informed in detail in the next day or two".
Mujović said that he was satisfied with the agreement reached.
"I hope that I will be worthy of the support of the people who were with me today and that I will be a worthy mayor of Podgorica, that is my great desire and obligation," he said.
He added that today the celebration must be replaced by thinking about how to fulfill the promises they made.
"I said in the campaign that my word is my greatest obligation and task, and I will implement what I promised," he said.
The agreement was reached after two meetings between the ruling parties and the PzPG. The first meeting was held on Wednesday evening when it was signaled that an agreement would be reached.

Last night, Ljiljanić said that not a single function other than political has been discussed yet.
One of the sources of "Vijesti" said on Wednesday evening, after the first meeting, that the governing parties offered PzPG more than a quarter of the functions in the capital, without specifying which ones, but stating that it was a concession in order to agree on jointly govern Podgorica and that it is more than PzPG "earned" in the elections.
In the elections, the DPS won 19 mandates, the PES-Democrats coalition won 14, the alliance "For the future of Podgorica" won 13, the list "Za bolja Podgorica" won six, the European Union three, and the Party of European Progress (SEP) and the Movement "Revolution" won two mandates each.
The Assembly of the Capital City has 59 councilors and for the constitution of the government it is necessary to provide the support of at least 30 of them.
On Tuesday, the PzPG invited the ruling parties to a dialogue, and after Milatović wrote on the X network that "the future of Podgorica and the future of Montenegro should be found through the strengthening of dialogue and mutual understanding between political entities and actors of the civic center", that is, "the idea that in the previous local, presidential and parliamentary elections, he led the unified PES".
The invitation of the Movement for Podgorica was preceded by the postponement of the meeting that this political entity was supposed to have on Tuesday evening with the opposition DPS, the European Union and the Party of European Progress (SEP). The meeting, which was supposed to be a continuation of the official negotiations on the city government that started on Monday, was reportedly canceled because all the list holders of those political actors could not attend the official gathering. However, in the last few days, there has been speculation in political circles that one member of the PzPG is not in favor of cooperation with the DPS. Without that councilor, PzPG could not form a government with the strongest opposition party.
The deadline for constituting the Podgorica parliament by electing its head expires on January 5 of the coming year, that is, 60 days after the publication of the final election results in the Official Gazette (the mayor is elected no later than 30 days after the constitution of the parliament).
The session of the Assembly of the capital is scheduled for tomorrow.
Živković: Some serious blackmail happened
DPS leader Danijel Živković said last night that he was not surprised that the Movement for Podgorica and the coalitions PES-Democrats and "For the Future of Podgorica" agreed on the formation of the government in Podgorica and that it was obvious that "some serious blackmail had taken place".
"The only question that arises is why we had new elections, why the mandate of the Assembly was called, and what did those who shortened, among others, the mandate, ask the citizens in the new elections, because they said that they did not do well with those they ended up with . Take it easy, what we have seen in the previous year and a half of their mandate, we will also see in the following period of time", said Živković in the show Načisto on Television Vijesti.
