Montenegro needs a long-term vision, innovative ideas and solutions, a vital and secular community and decisive leadership with the goal of social transformation that will result in sovereign power, a resilient democratic state, a strong civil society and the development of an entrepreneurial culture, announced the Civic Initiative "21. May".
They said that the movement, founded at the end of December 2020, "remains committed to its mission" and that they intend to make Platform 2050 public in the coming year.
"At the end of December 2020, a Proclamation was published inviting citizens to participate in the formation of the GI 'May 21' and thereby oppose the post-election political and institutional chaos, anti-European politics and Greater Serbian clerical-nationalism. With this act, the GI 'May 21' was founded ' as a non-partisan, informal and democratic organization. Since its establishment, GI '21.maj' has been dedicated to a state-building, just and Euro-Atlantic Montenegro. humane, secular, anti-fascist and civil society, as well as economically, educationally and culturally productive community. GI '21.maj' as a social movement based its mission from the beginning on autonomy, critical and progressive thinking and advocacy for ethical and meritorious public policies. Today, the movement gathers 1.108 members from 19 municipalities, of which 134 members are from the diaspora. The movement has its own podcast edited by Malik Kovačević, and it has about six thousand followers on social networks. Civic activities and public views of the Movement often have more than thirty thousand media views," the announcement reads.
They remind that in the past period they also had "dedicated non-party councilors" Saša Zeković in Podgorica and Merin Smailagić in Budva.
"The Movement is currently managed at the state level by a Council of 41 members and a Coordination Committee of 11 members. The current leadership of the Movement consists of Miodrag Živković, President of the Council, Andrijana Klikovac and Branko Baletić, vice presidents of the Council, as well as Rade Bojović, executive coordinator and KO members: Veselin Ivanović, Andrej Nikolaidis, Vukota Vukotić, Marko Pejović, Merin Smailagić, Radmila Drašković, Izudin Gušmirović, Ranko Mišković, Pavle Novović and Merdan Zejnelagić. GI '21.maj' remains dedicated to its mission and intends to disclose Platform 2050 to the public in the coming year.
