For Mojkovac, the past year was full of challenges, but also of great success, said the President of the Municipality Vesko Delić at the ceremonial session, which is part of the celebration of the Day of the Municipality. He claims that the local government has managed to implement numerous projects that, as he said, will have a long-term positive effect on the lives of the people of Mojkov and the future of that city.
"The municipality of Mojkovac recorded significant progress in the past year, and one of the biggest indicators of our success is the growth of the municipal budget. Today, we have a budget of more than eight million euros, which is much more than we had when we took over the government in 2021. This progress is not just a figure, but a reflection of serious work, responsible management and a strategic approach to investments. One of the significant steps is the investment in road infrastructure, which, together with local communities, is crucial for further development. Important works have been carried out on road routes which connect different settlements, including the asphalting of 14 kilometers of the road towards Sinjajevina and five kilometers towards Prošćenski Žari", said Delić.
According to him, the construction of a ski center on the Mojkovac side of Bjelasica represents one of the most significant projects for the future of the municipality and the entire region.
"The development of this ski center represents not only a significant step for Mojkovac, but also for the whole of Montenegro. This project has the potential to become a pillar of winter tourism in our country, attracting visitors and investors from the entire region and beyond. We expect active and strong support from the Government of Montenegro "Go ahead in this important undertaking, which will contribute to the development of infrastructure, improvement of the economy and the creation of new jobs, which will give Mojkovac, as well as our country, an important tourist and economic impulse," said Delić.
He also announced the reconstruction of the town square, which, he claims, represents one of the most significant projects within the development of the municipality's infrastructure. Delić says that he will continue investments in road infrastructure, as well as two important projects. The first project is a replica of medieval Brskov, which, Delić explained, "will revive the historical significance of this once powerful trading and mining center".
"Another significant project is the Memorial Center dedicated to the heroes of the Battle of Mojkovac, which will preserve the memory of the courage and sacrifice of our ancestors in a dignified manner. This center will be a place of remembrance, but also an important tourist and educational resource, which will inspire future generations to be proud of their history and to cultivate a sense of respect for those who gave their lives for freedom. Such two projects not only preserve our history, but will additionally enrich the cultural and touristic offer of our region and create new opportunities for local development. economy", said the President of the Municipality.
The ceremonial session was also an opportunity for the local government to brag about, as it was said, the increase in funds to support families. These measures, Delić claims, create an environment "in which everyone will have equal chances for progress, and our future will be safe and stable, by building a community that cherishes the values of solidarity, support and love for the family".
According to the President of the Municipal Assembly (SO) Marko Janketić, in the previous year the local parliament made "important decisions for the local community, with which we made important strides for the quality of life of our fellow citizens."
"Social policy and care for people are the focus of the local government, and in accordance with such policy, the Municipal Assembly adopted a package of social measures, which improved and contributed to the improvement of material conditions for our youngest. We increased the fees for newborns in a record amount and they are the largest in Montenegro, we subsidize the costs of stay and food in kindergarten in the amount of 50 percent, we financially support students up to the ninth grade who attend school in rural areas", said Janketić.
In three years, the current government has increased the municipal budget three times and completed numerous capital projects, according to the president of the SO.
He also referred to the importance of the Battle of Mojkovac and the heroes from Mojkovac, who, as he said, "wrote the most significant page of our war history on the famous Mojkovac gates".
"After heavy and bloody battles from Glasinac to Mojkovac, the tortured Montenegrin army, lacking in everything except heroism and superhuman desire for victory under the command of the legendary divisional officer Janko Vukotić, defeated the far more numerous and technically superior Austro-Hungarian enemy at the most decisive hour. That heroic victory is deeply engraved in the soul and collective being of our people. "With the victory at Mojkovac, the Montenegrin army accomplished its main task and enabled the safe withdrawal of the Serbian army to the sea, thereby enabling it to perform an unprecedented war feat on the Thessaloniki front and a victorious return to the homeland, which brought freedom and unification to all South Slavs," said Janketić.
The festive session was also an opportunity for awards to the most successful individuals, teams and students from that city. Janketić presented the award "January 7" to Dr. Veselin Ilić, Bećir Vuković to Sports jlub Serdar, KUD Vesna and Radenko Mija Jovanović. The winners of the award for the best male and female students, presented by Delić, are Anastasija, Luka Bogavac, Ivana Medojević, Vladimir Grujić and Danilo Šćepanović.

Vučević and Mandić on the significance of the Battle of Mojkovac
Prime Minister of Serbia Miloš Vučević and President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić also spoke at the ceremonial session. They recalled the importance of the Battle of Mojkovac.
"We can freely say that the Battle of Mojkovac is one of the most important historical events in the glorious history of Montenegro, but also of the Serbian people in general. The event, which most consistently depicts the patriotic and political consciousness of the people who live here. The sacrifice of the Mojkovac heroes was important not only for Montenegro but also for the entire Balkans, because without it there would have been no Thessaloniki Front and without it there would have been no freedom that arrived with the victorious Serbian army in 1918," said Vucevic.
He said that "since the beginning of the Great War, cooperation between Serbia and Montenegro, despite the rivalry of the Karađorđević and Petrović-Njegoš dynasties, took place in accordance with the wishes of the people." Immediately after the start of hostilities, said the Prime Minister of Serbia, "On August 1, 1914, the Montenegrin National Assembly decided that Montenegro would join the war against Austria-Hungary, sharing in solidarity the fate of fraternal Serbia."
"As the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, I came here to once again bow to the shadows of the immortal falcons of the Battle of Mojkovac. I have come to convey fraternal greetings and respect to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. And I came so that we can be together as brothers today in Mojkovac on the first day of Christmas and pray to God for Serbia and Montenegro," said Vučević.
According to Mandić, on Christmas Day 1916, Mojkovac "became a symbol of sacrifice, brotherly love and faith".
"The memory of all the victims of that great battle still shapes the spirit of Mojkovac and the whole of Montenegro today. Examples of the former economic revival and undying military glory of this region should be a permanent inspiration for the new rise of this city and the entire north of Montenegro. Important projects are waiting ready, and the young leadership of this municipality must show strength, energy and persistence in order to realize it as soon as possible", said the President of the Parliament of Montenegro.
