MP and vice president of the Bosniak Party (BS), Jasmin Ćorović, said he welcomes the proposal by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos to involve the Venice Commission in resolving the constitutional crisis in Montenegro, the BS announced.
"I believe that the Venice Commission, as an independent and objective body of the Council of Europe, will most realistically view the problem of the constitutional crisis in Montenegro and provide an objective proposal for a solution. This could be a way out of this crisis and return the parliament and state institutions to the path of accelerated European integration," said Ćorović.
He called on his colleagues from the opposition, as well as the authorities, to accept this proposal, BS said.
"And let's allow institutions to function normally so as not to hinder what we all stand for, and what we believe is the priority of all priorities, which is Montenegro's membership in the European Union," the statement said.
"I do not want to believe that the opposition will reject this proposal, and risk Montenegro once again jeopardizing the opportunity and failing to take advantage of the favorable political circumstances of accelerated entry into the EU. On the contrary, I believe that there is enough wisdom and political maturity in the opposition to see the importance of the moment, and to put narrow party interests aside for the sake of this larger and more general goal," said Ćorović.
