The leader of the political group "Budva Our City", Nikola Jovanović, accused the Government of preparing to introduce compulsory administration in the Municipality of Budva, and called on his political opponent, the leader of the list "For the Future of Budva", Mladen Mikijelj, to elect Petar Odžić as the President of the Municipal Assembly and thus prevent the return of the Democratic Party of Socialists to power.
As he said, Mikijelj will bear responsibility, if he rejects the offer, for DPS returning.
"After the two election cycles that we have had, the electoral will is completely clear. The list that I led emerged victorious from two election cycles and therefore we have full legitimacy and legality to form a government. After the session on January 10, the chaos and inaction of state bodies, we are still in a legal and political quandary and a crisis that needs to be resolved. If there is political will on the part of the participants who took part in the elections, our situation is easily solvable. Those who say that they want DPS to never return to power, simply need to come to the session that the Government will schedule and support the model that we proposed for getting out of the political crisis," said Jovanović in a video message posted on his Facebook profile.
According to him, by nominating Petar Odžić for the president of the Budva Municipal Assembly, who has been their coalition partner since 2017, they are sending an important message - that they do not betray or sell out personal and political friends.
"Odžić has been a coalition partner since 2017 for those who say today that we must not allow the return of DPS. If, on the other hand, we receive messages, extended hands and attempts at reconciliation and if we hear that someone does not want to return DPS, then I want to clearly state: the responsibility for the possible return of DPS lies precisely with them. It is very little necessary for the Government to schedule a session of the Budva Municipal Assembly in accordance with the law and for the constituents of 'For the Future of Budva' to come and support us, with whom we have been in power since 2017. Odžić did not succumb to pressure or political offers and therefore has our support. I call on all those who are sending statements and narratives today that they do not want the return of DPS to come to the Municipal Assembly session, give us their support and vote for our candidate for the President of the Municipal Assembly and later vote for our candidate for the President of the Municipality. This is the most responsible attitude towards citizens, so that we do not go to the elections for the third time," stressed Jovanović.
He points out that the government, under political patronage, ignores legal obligations, does not schedule sessions and flagrantly violates the law.
He claims that the secret plan is to introduce compulsory administration in the Municipality of Budva.
"This forced administration could last until 2027, and that would be an anti-democratic form of resolving the political situation, or deepening the political crisis. Budva needs consensus, reconciliation. Personally, it doesn't matter to me at all which side the support comes from, which political list or political party. There is enough space in Budva to work together for the betterment of all citizens and to show by personal and political example that we are worthy of the support we received in the elections," concluded Jovanović.
