Councilor of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danilo Adžić, said that Kotor, the city of water polo, is once again suffering due to political issues that no one has the courage to resolve.
He commented on the decision of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro to hold the superfinal of the Water Polo World Cup, hosted by Montenegro, in Podgorica.
The tournament was originally supposed to be held in Budva and Kotor, but the Croatian Water Polo Federation threatened not to attend the final tournament, which is scheduled for April 11th to 13th, because the swimming pool in Kotor is named after Zoran - Džimije Gopčević.
Adžić said that today's decision is "a slap in the face to Kotor, the Croats and the late Jimmy all in one."
"Will the local government (which is in a state of total blockade and held hostage by the outgoing structure) have the ear to resolve this issue for the benefit of Montenegrin sport? Or will we drag ourselves through the Podgorica, Budva or Trebinje swimming pools for years, to our and your shame, gentlemen from the Government and gentlemen from the previous convocation of the Kotor Municipality," he wrote on Iks.
He said that tradition gives Kotor the right, but also the obligation, to be a leader in water polo, and not a victim of political games.
