Bosniaks in Montenegro have clearly defined goals - strengthening a civic, European Montenegro and advancing the general interests of the Bosniak people, said Bosniak Party (BS) MP Kenana Strujić Harbić.

She met with the president of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Bakir Izetbegović, in Sarajevo.

As announced by BS, the meeting discussed the most important current issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, relations between the two countries, and the position of the Bosniak people.

Strujić Harbić said that from the point of view of Bosniaks in Montenegro, today it is important to show unity, strength and self-awareness about the future of Bosniaks wherever they live.

The BS said that Strujić Harbić and Izetbegović agreed at the meeting on the importance of the BS's independent participation in political processes in Montenegro.

"And the focus in the future must be precisely strengthening our role in these processes, because only in this way can we represent and preserve the interests of the Bosniak people in Montenegro and contribute to preserving the identity and integrity of our people. Because, as the esteemed Reis-ul-ulema Kavazović said: We have paid too high a price throughout our history for us not to be able to freely decide for ourselves today," said Strujić Harbić.

"SDA President Bakir Izetbegović called for joint action by political representatives in the interest of the entire Bosniak people. He congratulated Montenegro on the progress it has made by closing three chapters in negotiations for full membership in the European Union, underlining the role of Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović and other Bosniak political representatives in that process," the statement reads.
