While citizens have until recently been faced with overcrowded containers, irregularly collected garbage, and unbearable odors in some parts of the city, the city administration is not solving the problem but is instead coming up with new ways to take more money from citizens, said Miloš Mašković, a councilor for the European Union in the Capital City Assembly.
Mašković reminded that Podgorica Deputy Mayor Nađa Ljiljanić today announced an increase in the price of garbage collection by Čistoća, headed by her party colleague Denis Hot.
"This price increase should follow the 41 percent increase in the price of water in the capital and the 50 percent increase in the price of renting stalls in markets and markets last year," added the European Union councilor.
He expressed concern that citizens will pay for the irresponsible actions of the authorities.
"The question arises, why should citizens pay for the irresponsible management and poor planning of a man during whose term the city was the dirtiest in its recent history? It's not like Mrs. Ljiljanić has forgotten about the meritocracy and professionalization of the service that she swore to before taking office."
"Instead of addressing cost rationalization and better management, they decided to cover up their incompetence and inaction by raising prices, as they did in Vodovod," concluded Mašković.
