By voting for Petar Odžić for the president of the Budva Municipal Assembly (SO), the people from the "Budva Our City" movement betrayed the will of their voters and, through a back door, enabled the return of those who wanted to expel the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) from Montenegro, and deport the Serbian people from the country on tractors, announced Socialist People's Party (SNP) MP Bogdan Božović.
"The alleged return of DPS and their display of political 'strength' boils down to providing minority support to the group gathered around Nikola Jovanović. It is clear that with this decision, DPS has sent a message to its voters and the entire Montenegrin public that it is ready to form an alliance with anyone, just to return to power at any cost, even though their political position is actually fundamentally inferior," the statement reads.
"How hypocritical all the criticisms directed at representatives of minority peoples for coalitions at the state level with alleged clerical-nationalists, Chetniks and similar labels sound now," said Božović.
He pointed out that it is now obvious that it was an empty story, without any substance, behind which, according to Božović, lies only an insatiable thirst for power and privileges that were permanently lost in 2020.
"We cannot blame the DPS, because we know them very well and know what they are ready to do to preserve their positions. But we blame those people from the 'Budva Our City' movement, whose hand trembled when they voted for Petar Odžić to be the President of the Assembly," Božović added.
"This is a betrayal that will not be forgotten. The citizens of Budva will not allow their fate to be shaped behind closed doors, in political bargaining that only serves the interests of individuals, not the people," said Božović.
