The parliamentary group of the Europe Now Movement (PES) finds unacceptable the conditionality in the proposed Opposition Agreement, that after more than a month of blockade, the dynamics of the Parliament's work should now be further slowed down, PES announced.

On the other hand, they said it was encouraging that the opposition accepted that the Venice Commission be consulted in the meantime, which would provide an opinion regarding, as they said, the staged crisis with the Constitutional Court.

They called on the opposition to return to constructive action, "and to be aware of how important it is for parliamentary work to be unhindered and dynamic."

They stated that an agreement between the opposition and the parliamentary majority should accelerate the dynamics of the work of parliament, instead of blocking it.

"There is an ambitious and realistic plan to adopt, in addition to the law that improves living standards, numerous laws through the dynamic work of the Parliament that would enable the closure of all negotiation chapters by the end of 2026. It is necessary that, due to the agreed plan with the European Commission, we proceed with the adoption of the law to close the chapter during the Polish presidency of the Council of the EU by June this year. In addition, slowing down legislative activities would completely block the withdrawal of money from the EU's European Growth Plan, for which it is necessary to implement numerous obligations from the Growth Plan, through activities in the Parliament," the statement reads.

"Also, the Parliament is already taking concrete steps within its jurisdiction, in order to have a functional Constitutional Court at full capacity as soon as possible, which is in the interest of the domestic and international public," said the PES Parliamentary Group.
