The newly elected President of the Budva Parliament, Petar Odžić, has scheduled a session of the Budva Municipal Assembly (MA) for Thursday at 14 p.m., the agenda of which will include a proposal to appoint several committees, while for the same day at 16 p.m. he has scheduled a session at which the resignation of the detained Mayor Milo Božović will be confirmed, as well as a proposal that the leader of the political group "Budva Our City" Nikola Jovanović be the new leader of Budva.
This is stated in the materials for convening the sessions, which Vijesti had access to.
As Vijesti danas reported, Božović submitted his resignation in a Spusk cell, thereby enabling his political like-minded person Jovanović to take his seat.
The materials for convening the sessions that Odžić delivered to the councilors included Božović's resignation, as well as the decision to appoint Jovanović.
The parliamentary committees will first decide on Božović's resignation and Jovanović's appointment after they are constituted.
Jovanović was proposed as the president of the Municipality of Budva by 12 councilors from the "Budva Our City" group, the European Union and the Civic Movement URA, and it is expected that his election will also be supported by councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
In the invitation sent to the councilors, the agenda for the first session includes a proposal for a resolution on the appointment of the committees for selection and appointments, statute and regulations, finance, economy and development.
The agenda of that session also includes a proposal to appoint a committee for spatial planning and development and communal housing activities, as well as a committee for social activities and inter-municipal and international cooperation.
Božović has been in the Supka pretrial detention center since April 13, 2023, on charges of being part of a drug clan.
At the beginning of December last year, he clearly became involved in political developments in Budva, when he dismissed the then Vice President of the Municipality, Jasna Dokić, after she left the "Budva Our City" group because she opposed the coalition with the DPS.
On the same day, Božović appointed Nikola Jovanović, the leader of "Budva our city", from the Supca cell, as his deputy.
