The celebration of the appointment of Nikola Jovanović as the new mayor was held last night in a Budva bar.
Footage from the celebration is circulating on social media. One of them shows Jovanović embracing the new president of the municipal assembly, Petar Odžić, celebrating the victory with the song "every poor man would kill a wolf".
The lyrics in question are by Baja Mali Knindža, a performer known as the author of Serbian nationalist songs.
The cheerful atmosphere in the bar, located in a business premises co-owned by former municipal president Milo Božović, lasted until the early hours of the morning. Among those who attended the festivities was the leader of the local DPS, Milan Tičić.
The business premises were blocked by the High Court, on the orders of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, due to accusations that Božović was a member of a drug police clan.
Jovanović and Odžić were elected by 12 councilors from their coalitions "Budva Our City" and the European Union, as well as the Civic Movement URA, but the support of the Democratic Party of Socialists was crucial for them to take the top positions in the Municipality and the Municipal Assembly.
