The leader of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović, and the vice president of that party, Filip Adžić, visited the Rumija society, which brings together citizens, predominantly from Bar, who live and work in Chicago.
As announced by the URA Border Guard, they shared their thoughts on current events in Montenegro and emphasized the importance of the diaspora for the country.
"In previous years, I have had many meetings with our emigrants, but no association has such a maternal attitude towards Montenegro as 'Rumija'. I am proud of your society. Together, let us make Montenegro a modern, progressive and wealthy state, which inherits a civic character," said Abazović.
He emphasized that Montenegro is immortal like an olive tree and called on the diaspora to help with its rich experience gained in the USA in various spheres of society.
"Only a society based on justice can survive and move forward. We must continue to fight for that ideal and strengthen the institutions of the system," Abazović added.
Adžić emphasized how much the diaspora means to Montenegro in economic terms.
"You have always been there when needed and now you are once again with your country. We have done a lot in the previous period, fought historic battles, but now we must come together again and fight together for a functional civil state," said Adžić.
The management of the Rumija society, the statement says, thanked them for the visit, emphasizing that their doors are open to all people from Montenegro who come to Chicago.
Earlier in the day, Abazović and Adžić visited the Islamic Center, where they spoke with numerous citizens, most of whom were from the Bar and Ulcinj areas.
