For five years now, we have been witnessing a political circus in which we are witnessing party-political grabs for positions and the fight for more seats, announced the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Danijel Živković.
DPS announced that Živković said this at a public debate held in Budva yesterday.
He said that a wave of political change has begun in that city and is unstoppable.
"Citizens are fed up with the nonsense, chaos and anarchy. It is time for political stability to return. That is the key characteristic of the Democratic Party of Socialists. For five years now, we have been witnessing a political circus in which we are witnessing party-political grabbing for positions and the fight for more seats. In the meantime, development has been halted, projects have stalled, investors have been dispersed. The state coffers are empty, the economy is struggling for liquidity and the deficit is growing. That is why we are borrowing more and more often," Živković pointed out.
He added that institutions have been destroyed, that the security sector almost no longer exists, and that ill-intentioned ignorant people are in charge of the state.
"The situation is alarming and that is why we must end this agony as soon as possible. That is why we said: Wherever we can, we will disempower the parliamentary majority at the state level and send them into opposition. We did that in Budva and we will do that in all other areas until changes are made at the state level. That wave has started and there is no stopping it, the next stop is Nikšić," concluded Živković.
The DPS statement states that the party's vice president, Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, spoke about "the proposed Program for the upcoming Congress which best reflects the quality of the Democratic Party of Socialists' offer."
"The program applies to all segments of social life. As stated in the program, DPS will continue to strongly advocate for the defense of state dignity, and to contribute to strengthening the economy, attracting investments and improving the quality of life of citizens, while applying the concept of social justice. The program also offers solutions for the areas of ecology, culture and sports, as well as the security sector and the rule of law," the statement reads.
The DPS stated that the party's vice president, Ivan Vuković, spoke about "numerous attempts to destabilize Montenegro and divert it from its European path, which are coming from the highest state addresses."
"He reminded those present that our party was the one that paved the way to the EU, we opened all and temporarily closed three negotiation chapters. He pointed out that, although from the opposition benches, DPS MPs are still striving to make a full contribution to that path, supporting all proposals that are part of the European agenda. However, Vuković emphasized, everyone in the Democratic Party of Socialists prioritizes the obligation to defend the legal order of the state, and as representatives of a responsible party, they oppose this with the aim of returning the government to the framework of constitutional behavior," the DPS statement reads.
