Pljevlja Municipality Gives Parties 440.000 Euros

Financing political parties represented in the local parliament, councilors' fees, and rent of premises will cost the citizens of Pljevlja around 440.000 euros this year.

The largest amount of taxpayer money from the Pljevlja Municipality treasury, around 219.000 euros, will be allocated for the work of political parties that have councilors in the Pljevlja parliament.

The municipality will allocate 158.000 euros for councilors' compensation this year, meaning each councilor, many of whom rarely have anything to say behind the assembly podium, will receive 6.647 euros per year.

According to the funding decision, all political parties that have councilors in the Pljevlja parliament receive a fixed monthly portion plus a variable portion that depends on the number of councilor seats the party won in the local elections. The most money, 4.436 euros per month or about 53.000 euros per year, will go to the New Serbian Democracy, which has the most councilors in the Pljevlja parliament.

Nova won 10 of the 34 seats in the Pljevlja parliament in the last local elections. After Nova, the Democratic Party of Socialists, which has eight councilors, will receive the most money per month. The municipality will allocate 3.625 euros per month for the work of that party. The Europe Movement will now receive 2 euros per month, and Democratic Montenegro, also represented in the local parliament with four councilors, will receive 930 euros per month.

The Movement for Pljevlja will receive 1.115 euros, the Democratic People's Party 1.069 euros. These parties have two councilors in the local parliament each. The Socialist People's Party will receive 824 euros for one councilor mandate, and the Bosniak Party 915 and the United Montenegro 793 for the same number of mandates.

The least amount of money from the municipal budget will be received by URA, 549 euros, which has one councilor in the local parliament.

By law, the Municipality is obliged to provide space for the work of councilors' clubs. If it cannot provide premises in its own ownership, the Municipality pays rent to the political parties represented in the local parliament. The Municipality will allocate 40 thousand euros from the budget for the rent of the space for the year.

For the regular financing of women's organizations in political subjects, that is, the financing of their regular work this year, the Municipality will pay about 1.824 euros per month to the parties represented in the local parliament, and a maximum of 364 euros to the Europe Now Movement.

For regular financing of women's organizations in political parties, the Municipality allocates, by law, 0,11 percent of the planned funds of the current budget for this year, which amounts to slightly more than 21 thousand euros.
