The president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DP), Danijel Živković, said at a forum in Nikšić that the party will convincingly win the upcoming elections in that city.
"We will defeat and send this anti-state government, which has ruined the image and reputation of Nikšić in the past four years, into the past. We will show them that arrogance, ill-manneredness and ignorance do not have a majority in this city and that they must pay a political price for everything they have done in the previous period. The wave of political changes started in Budva, and will continue in Nikšić and all other parts of Montenegro until we clean them up at the state level and send them into opposition," said Živković.
He added, as announced by the DPS, that the upcoming tenth Congress of the DPS is being welcomed strongly, unitedly and with great moral capital:
"We have not given up in the past four years. The period between the two Congresses is one of the most challenging in the history of our party. However, we managed to overcome all the challenges, consolidate the party and remain by far the strongest party in Montenegro. This is a great achievement of this generation of leadership of the Democratic Party of Socialists."
DPS Vice President Jevto Eraković said that Nikšić has always been the bulwark of Montenegro's defense.
"I am proud to be with you tonight, with people who honorably, fairly and without self-interest stand on the defense of the values of modern Montenegro. We are all one big family and we all stand firmly by each other in this difficult time for our country and our party. In such an atmosphere, we welcome the upcoming Congress - strong and with full unity of the party at all levels. And as soon as we finish the Congress, we will start activities in Nikšić in order to not only regain power in this city with a convincing victory, but also shorten the mandate of the current Government," said Eraković.
DPS Vice President Aleksandra Vuković Kuč spoke about the proposed Program and said that Montenegro has been institutionally ruined in the past five years:
"That is why it was not easy to draft the Program proposal. We have envisaged both urgent measures to remediate the situation on the one hand and active measures for development on the other. However, that is why we must first and foremost make an effort to shorten the period of Montenegro's decline and send this disastrous government into opposition as soon as possible."
The head of the Parliamentary Group in the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Nikolić, said that when it was most difficult, DPS survived thanks to the strong character and dignity of its voters, predominantly those who have been there since 1997.
"This is the foundation on which the new political generation still relies today. We know very well that among you who have remained with the DPS, there are many hard-working and honest people who live from scratch and make ends meet, but who cherish family tradition and face, because they know very well that state interests are not sold for any money. We owe you the greatest gratitude for your support and we feel the greatest responsibility to fulfill our promises," said Nikolić.
