Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović will receive tomorrow, as part of the official visit to Montenegro by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, the country's highest state decoration - the Order of the Grand Cross of Merit.
As announced by Milatović's office, this decoration is awarded for special merits in the fields of science, literature, art, civil and military service, social and philanthropic activities, as well as for merits in strengthening international relations and cooperation.
"The Order of the Grand Cross of Merit of Italy, established in 1951, will be awarded to a representative of Montenegro for the first time. This decoration, among other world statesmen and leaders, was also awarded to Josip Broz Tito in 1969," the statement said.
It is stated that Milatović will present Mattarella with the Order of Montenegro on a ribbon.
As it is added, this is the highest state decoration that Montenegro awards to presidents, sovereign states or heads of international organizations, as an expression of lasting friendship and gratitude to Mattarella and Italy for their support of Montenegro.
The award ceremony will be held at the Residence of the President of Montenegro in Cetinje.
