The new majority in Budva, gathered around the list "Budva our city", the European Union and the Civic Movement URA with the support of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), rejected the position of the State Election Commission (SEC) on the composition of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC), which was warned about by the coalition "For the Future of Budva", and the President of the Municipality of Budva Nikola Jovanović said - appeal to the court.
The opposition claims that this case is more dangerous than the one in Šavnik.
"The case of the election of this commission in Budva is not remembered in the parliamentary history of Montenegro. The case of Budva is, I ask the citizens to understand this, much worse than the case in Šavnik, because two incredible precedents have occurred that also mean the violation of the law and the Constitution by the DPS and its satellites. Nikola Jovanović, in his new coalition, with the DPS and the SDP, is setting new and unprecedentedly distorted standards in the political life of our country," the outgoing president of the Budva MEC and former president of the Budva committee of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Đorđe Vujović told "Vijesti" yesterday.
"Vijesti" came into possession of a document from the SEC that precisely prescribes the composition of the Budva election commission, and they were introduced to it in the Budva Municipal Assembly (MA).
That act was signed by SEC member Damir Suljević, upon authorization from the SEC president.
However, the new parliamentary majority refused to elect the MEC in the manner ordered by the SEC, but rather secured a majority in the MEC and thus influence over its work through its composition, which was voted on in parliament on Friday.
The coalition "For the Future of Budva" says that until intentional mistakes are corrected and violations of the law are prevented, there is no point in organizing political life and elections.
Otherwise, the composition of the MEC is determined in accordance with the Law on the Election of Councilors and Representatives, more precisely, under Article 25.
The SEC, in its act issued on February 21, determined that the coalition "For the Future of Budva" must have an MEC president, deputy president, and MEC secretary, while in practice they received none of that.
On the other hand, the Movement for Changes (PZP) Budva, which, as the coalition "For the Future of Budva" claims, has no councilors in the local parliament, received a member and a deputy member of the MEC.
So far, in political practice in Montenegro, it has never happened that a party that does not have a councilor receives a member of the MEC.
