The Democratic Councilor in the Budva Parliament, Željko Franeta, accused the coalition of Nikola Jovanović, the Democratic Party of Socialists, the European Union and the Civic Movement URA of violating the laws at the very beginning of its government and, by ignoring the position of the State Election Commission (SEC), appointing a new convocation of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC).
"So when you ask yourself what the return of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to power in Budva looks like in the embrace of the European Union, the Civic Movement URA and Nikola Jovanović, the answer comes immediately and exactly in the form of the most brutal abuse of power, right from the start. This coalition ignored the official position of the SEC and illegally formed the OIK contrary to all legal and democratic principles. Neither Nikola Jovanović has the largest number of mandates, nor the largest number of votes to have the OIK president (I say Nikola Jovanović who claims that he personally won the mandates, and not the list on which he was even last)," Franeta pointed out.
He emphasizes that DPS is not the opposition to the current government and the birds on the branch know that.
"PZP does not have a councilor in the local parliament to have a member in the OIK (Nikola Vučičević comes from the NSD quota, not PZP). We have lived with such a demonstration of power and arrogance for three decades, we have experienced the bitter fruits of it on our own backs, and unfortunately today it is our reality again. The eternal 'guardians of the Constitution' and 'honesty' of our mother Montenegro are trampling on all legal norms in order to, according to a well-known model, drive their power into the bones of the citizens and make it known that they will not waste time and that they will return Budva to its initial settings, as during the most brutal abuse of official position, rampage and persecution of everyone and everything that is not close to them," Franeta states and adds:
"Political opponents smear and denounce, insult and spread untruths in order to discredit, intimidate and silence them. They effectively appoint prominent DPS cadres to the boards of directors and tell stories about the "project" support that the "naive" DPS will provide them. The honorary president of DPS clearly emphasizes that he is acting from the stage and not from the sidelines, which we see in action today," concluded Franeta.
