The Kotor Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced that it is difficult to understand "the hate speech to which Kotor and its citizens have been exposed since yesterday."
The DPS Kotor stated that carnivals have been burned for centuries, and that in the recent past, depending on who was in power, there have been cases from all political sides, but that on no occasion have there been "so many insults and open hatred for that act."
"It is absurd that one of the key state officials is proposing his own 'alternative' to burning down the carnival: he is neither called upon to do so, nor should he try to shape Kotor and Boka according to his own standards. Some have given themselves too much credit, if they don't like the authenticity of Kotor - that's just their problem. The fact that they want to demonize Kotor after Cetinje through their media, social networks and passionate bots is a futile effort. Because, despite all differences, including political ones, all the people of Kotor are completely united in preserving customs that date back far into the past and that make our environment, after all, both recognizable and special," it was announced.
The Kotor DPS branch office told the "imaginary greats" that they are not teaching us how to organize our lives.
"And especially that they don't teach us what carnival should look like. Because, this is the fifth year we have been following their carnival - the worst that Montenegro has ever seen. And as for the flares and European integration - for starters, we would like to tell the author of these 'metaphors' to try to cross the only border we have with the European Union today.
