Slovakia strongly supports Montenegro's European integration and is interested in providing additional expert assistance in areas that are key to fulfilling obligations from the European agenda.
This was announced at the first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, which were held in Bratislava.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the consultations were led by State Secretary in that department, Periša Kastratović, and his colleague from Slovakia, Marek Eštok.
"Given the importance of the current moment in Montenegro's European integration process, Slovakia's strong support and interest in providing additional expert assistance in areas that are key to fulfilling obligations from the European agenda were conveyed," the statement said.
It is added that the concrete results that Montenegro has achieved in the previous period were praised.
"Which confirm the leading role in the process of integration into the European Union (EU) and emphasize that Montenegro represents an excellent example that other candidate countries should follow," the statement says.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the consultations assessed that political relations between Montenegro and Slovakia are excellent.
The relations between the two countries, which, as they stated, will be further improved by upcoming visits at the highest level, are an exceptional opportunity to intensify economic cooperation, through active promotion of Montenegrin investment and tourism potential to the Slovak business community and citizens.
"During the consultations, opinions were also exchanged on current topics within the EU, as well as other regional and geopolitical issues," the statement added.
