Montenegro supports a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and stands with its people in their efforts for peace, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović announced today.
He wrote this on the social network X and mentioned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House last night after a heated argument during a meeting with United States President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
The White House has confirmed that Trump and Zelensky did not sign a minerals agreement during their talks, as previously reported.
While Trump has not completely ruled out the possibility of a deal, an agreement will not be reached until Ukraine is ready for "constructive talks," a senior US official told Reuters.
The Guardian writes that, in a sign of how badly the talks went, Trump released a statement on social media, stating that he had concluded that Zelensky "is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he believes our presence gives him a huge advantage in the negotiations."
Trump repeatedly told Zelensky that he was "gambling with the lives of millions, with World War III" and insisted that he stop insisting on additional security guarantees, saying: "Either you make a deal or we're pulling out."
