The Assembly of the Royal Capital of Cetinje adopted a decision at its last session requesting the Board of Directors of DOO "Vodovod i Kanalizacija" to reduce water bills for the citizens and businesses of Cetinje, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) announced today.
The statement added that the draft conclusions were presented by the Vice President of the Assembly of the Royal Capital and head of the "SDP and Citizens" councilor group Mirko Stanić, and that local government representatives supported it, which, as the SDP said, after the vote, became an integral part of the decision relating to the reconstruction of the water supply network.
"Stanić's proposal to the Board of Directors of DOO 'Water and Sewerage' to reduce the fixed part of the monthly service price from 3,0851 euros per user to the amount before the increase, which was one euro, was adopted. Also, a conclusion was adopted requesting that a 50% bill reduction be enabled for those consumers who have signed a protocol on paying the debt in installments, with regular payment of the monthly bill for the services invoiced to them by Vodovod," the SDP statement reads.
The party said that at the end of the year, the councilors reached a conclusion increasing the amount of bill reduction for regular payers from 40% to 50%, and that two-thirds of households in Cetinje are already using this benefit.
"During the discussion, it was pointed out that after the reconstruction of the water supply network, as well as the construction of a solar power plant at the Podgor water source, the consumption of electricity for pumping water will be several times lower, which will create conditions for the price of water in Cetinje to be significantly lower starting next year," said the SDP.
