The representative trade union organization of the administrative bodies of the Municipality of Kotor announced yesterday that the announced protests of municipal workers and other institutions due to delayed salary payments and problems with the Municipality of Kotor not functioning at full capacity will be held today from 11 to 11.30, while from Tuesday to Friday they plan a protest at the roundabout near the Post Office of Montenegro, by blocking the road from 11.10 to 11.20.
"In accordance with the law, we have reported the protests to the competent authority, and we hereby call on employees in the municipality of Kotor and other institutions to respond to the protests in as many numbers as possible, given that our right to earn a living as one of the basic human rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Montenegro and a number of international regulations is being threatened," said the president of the trade union organization, Aleksa Blagojević.
In the statement, he stated that due to political reasons caused by the failure to complete the local elections held last year, the Municipality of Kotor has been put in a situation where it cannot provide legally established obligations, primarily to citizens, institutions, sports clubs and other entities on the territory of the Municipality of Kotor.
Local elections were held in Kotor on September 29, but due to complaints regarding two polling stations (Mirac and Dom kulture Prčanj), the final results have not yet been announced, the new government has not been established, and the budget for this year has not been adopted, nor has the decision on temporary financing.
"We are deeply convinced that the citizens of Kotor will understand that we will express our displeasure and dissatisfaction with the current situation in the municipality by blocking the road, which will last a minimum period of time so as not to significantly affect the functioning of traffic," the trade union organization of the Kotor Municipality administration announced yesterday.
