The Democrats will run in the local elections in Nikšić, scheduled for April 13, in a coalition with "Plenum 083", and the list will be led by Nemanja Vuković, the current president of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly, and the president of the Nikšić Municipal Board of the Democrats, who was recently elected to that position. The municipal electoral list was submitted with the name "Nemanja Vuković - We are all Nikšić" with 1350 signatures of support.
"I can freely say that this is the best list that citizens will have the opportunity to see in these elections, a list made up of people of knowledge, people of integrity, people who have shown that they know how to listen to citizens and that they know how to solve citizens' problems. This list includes people who have solved the biggest problems of Nikšić, those problems that have plagued our city and our fellow citizens for 30 or more years. Since entering politics, I have subordinated everything to making Nikšić the most beautiful place to live, a city to come to, a city to return to, and not a city to leave," said Vuković after submitting the list.
He pointed out that they have big goals ahead of them, which are to keep young people in Nikšić, as well as to return those who have left.
"We can only do this together, and we can do this if Nikšić becomes a city that offers opportunities and a city in which young people will recognize the future. In the past four years, we have shown that we know how to work, that we know how to cooperate with citizens and that we work for all citizens. When we created neighborhoods, we did not look at who lives in them, but we worked for all those who are there. When we created children's playgrounds, we did not count whose children will play on them, but we worked for every child in this city. When we created streets, boulevards, roads, we created them for all citizens. But neither streets, nor boulevards, nor parks make a city. A city is made of people, and in the past four years, we have shown that we care about citizens and that citizens come first. That is the most important goal of every government," said Vuković.
In the past four years, Vuković pointed out, they have done their utmost to make Nikšić the most beautiful city to live in, they have solved numerous problems, introduced social programs, supported families, young couples...
"But we have to do better. I have always emphasized that we have to do better and that we can do better, that we can do even faster, even stronger, even more dedicated, even more efficient, and that is our goal for the next four years. We have to accelerate progress, we have to deliver results more efficiently, but I am especially proud of the fact that as a smaller coalition partner, we have implemented almost 90 percent of our 2021 election program in the past four years. We have not forgotten the promises made to the citizens. We have done everything to implement them, and we have implemented much more than what we promised in that campaign. I believe that today Nikšić is a much better place to live. We have to accelerate progress, that we all work together and that we all create a better future in this city. Therefore, a call to everyone, let's accelerate progress, we are all Nikšić," said Vuković.
Vice President of the Democrats, Momo Koprivica, said that in the past four years, a lot has been done to recover Nikšić.
"Nikšić has set out on the path of progress and this representative group of people, proven fighters, professionals, young, educated people, will certainly ensure that progress and accelerate progress. The man who, with his enthusiasm, vision, his patriotic and local-patriotic feelings, his youth and energy, is the first and right choice to accelerate the progress of Nikšić, is Nemanja Vuković. The first and right choice, not because he is my friend, colleague, comrade-in-arms even in those challenging times of the struggle for justice and truth, but because he has no stains, no mortgages, no affairs, no mistakes, and he has clean hands, a clear conscience, has youthful energy and is absolutely dedicated to the general interest," said Koprivica.
According to him, in the previous period, Vuković diligently reached out to all citizens of Nikšić and revived an institution that was previously only fictitious.
"The Nikšić Municipal Assembly has become an institution of living democracy, a place for launching initiatives, a place for initiating productive work, a place where democratic and cultural debate is conducted. I would say that it is precisely such people who are ready to work and build, to pledge their youth for their city, to leave their comfort and convenience to someone else, and to commit themselves to the prosperity of Nikšić, who deserve to be at the head of this city. That is why he is the leader of the list and, I am convinced, the future mayor," said Koprivica.
Prof. Dr. Dušan Krcunović from "Plenum O83" reminded that four years ago they were in a coalition with the Democrats. When a person is in a situation to choose, according to him, then he chooses as his associates, interlocutors and comrades those who are the best.
"So today, just like four years ago, we have decided to enter into joint political action with both Nemanja and Moma based on shared values that are universal, and which include a sense of justice, truth, moral integrity, responsibility. These are all values on which social trust and a meaningful human life are based. In the past four years, we have had several successful ventures that we are extremely proud of. First of all, I would like to highlight the decision to proclaim the day of Saint Basil as the patron saint of the city of Nikšić and for the glory of the city of Nikšić," said Krcunović.
The list "Nemanja Vuković - We Are Nikšić", as they pointed out, consists of 35 percent women and over 85 percent university graduates, of which three have PhDs, one MD, six master's degrees, two doctoral candidates, seven master's candidates and nine engineers:
