SEP will request that architect Josip Slade Šilović receive a monument in Nikšić

The European Progress Party announced that immediately after the Nikšić elections, it will initiate the erection of a monument to architect Josip Slade Šilović, the author of the city's first urban plan from 1883.

"Today is the 197th anniversary of Slade's birth. Our goal is for Nikšić to pay tribute to him with a monument by the 200th anniversary. Josip Slade Šilović dedicated most of his career as an architect and engineer to Montenegro, and especially to our Nikšić," said architect Matija Vujović, second on the councilor list "It's Time for Nikšić - Party of European Progress - Nikola Čvorović".

"Even today, some of the most significant and monumental works, such as the Castle of Prince Nikola, the Emperor's Bridge, the first, and for a long time the only urban plan in Montenegro, for which Nikšić is still known today and on whose principles and foundations the city is developing today, are Slade's works. Unfortunately, like many other greats, Slade has been left to the culture of oblivion, but we will try to restore the culture of remembrance of our famous Nikšić residents," said Vujović.

The leader of the Party of European Progress' electoral list, Nikola Čvorović, said that he would submit the initiative to erect the monument immediately after the elections.
