Starting tomorrow, the blockade will be for three hours - from 12:15 to 27:XNUMX. Today, we received support from the president of the Žabljak Municipal Assembly and from young volleyball players from Bar, the Šavnik opposition told "Vijesti" that, in protest of the re-election of Jugoslav Jakić (DPS) as the mayor of the municipality, they have been blocking the Šavnik-Žabljak road since February XNUMX.

At first the blockade lasted two hours, then half an hour longer, and starting tomorrow it will last three hours.

The blockade is organized by the coalitions "For the Future of Šavnik" (NSD, SNP, DNP) and "Let's Go People" (DCG, UCG, PES).

Last week, they sent a letter to the presidents of the state, parliament and government, Jakov Milatović, Andrija Mandić and Milojko Spajić, asking them to meet for an interview and try to find a solution to the Šavnik crisis.

"The election process in Šavnik began in October 2022 and has not been completed to this day. The municipality is still managed by the 'bodies' constituted in the 2018 local elections. This is an unprecedented case in Europe, and probably in third world countries as well. The municipality of Šavnik is de facto managed and decisions are made by a group of citizens without any legitimacy, which can lead to unforeseeable consequences for the functioning of the municipality itself and the survival of the residents living in Šavnik. We have previously initiated and appealed to state authorities at the central level several times to resolve the electoral crisis in Šavnik, but apart from transferring responsibility from the legislative to the executive branch and vice versa, there have been no concrete steps and measures. Considering all of the above, we propose to organize a joint meeting of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr. Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, and Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro, with representatives of the coalitions 'For the Future of Šavnik' and 'Let's Go People', in order to consider the possibilities for resolving the electoral crisis and possibly lead to an acceptable and of a legal solution," writes the letter from the Šavnica opposition.

By the votes of councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the Social Democrats (SD), who attended the zoom meeting, Jakić was elected as the new/old president of the Municipality of Šavnik on February 19.

After his re-election, Jakić told reporters that, according to the law, councilors' mandates last until new ones are elected.

The elections in Šavnik began on October 23, 2022, when they were held in 13 more municipalities, but were not completed because members of the polling stations from the opposition coalition For the Future of Šavnik did not allow some of the newly registered voters to vote because, they claim, they were copied to support the DPS. At two polling stations, in the Municipality building and in the village of Kruševice, where 541 voters have the right to vote, citizens went to the polls nine times, the last time on December 18, 2022, when the elections were interrupted again, after which the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) failed to reach an agreement with the MEC members to repeat the electoral process in the two mentioned places.
