Montenegro has made a key turning point in European integration in just one year, after closing three chapters at the end of last year, and is working even more intensively on these chapters to surpass that result, said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević.
She said this during a conversation with the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family, Claudia Plakolm.
Gorčević, as announced by the Ministry of European Affairs (MEP), informed Plakolm about the current state of Montenegro's negotiation process with the European Union (EU).
She emphasized that, in accordance with the current dynamics of integration, all negotiation chapters are expected to be closed by the end of next year, which would create the conditions for Montenegro's full membership by the end of 2028.
Plakolm praised Montenegro's progress over the past year, stating that the Austrian government remains consistently pro-European and strongly supports the EU's enlargement policy.
"In this context, she expressed full support for Montenegro's efforts on its path towards membership in the Union," the statement said.
It is stated that Gorčević and Plakolm agreed that changing geopolitical circumstances must not endanger the European project and that we should persevere in preserving the fundamental values of European democracy.
Gorčević congratulated Plakolm on her recent appointment as Minister for EU, Integration and Family, wished her a successful mandate, and invited her to visit Montenegro.
