Opposition representatives in Šavnik continued to block the Šavnik-Žabljak road today.
"Today, Slađana Kaluđerović from the SNP gave her support. On Friday, there will be an agreement on new criteria for protests," the opposition told "Vijesti" and has been blocking the road for more than a month, since February 27, in protest of the re-election of Jugoslav Jakić (DPS) as mayor of the municipality, and no one from the authorities has contacted them yet.
First the blockade lasted two hours, then half an hour longer, and now on Sunday it lasts three hours, from 12 noon to 15 pm.
The blockade is organized by the coalitions "For the Future of Šavnik" (NSD, SNP, DNP) and "Let's Go People" (DCG, UCG, PES).
Two weeks ago, they sent a letter to the presidents of the state, parliament and government, Jakov Milatović, Andrija Mandić and Milojko Spajić, asking them to meet for a discussion and try to find a solution to the Šavnik crisis. The meeting has not yet taken place.
By the votes of councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the Social Democrats (SD), who attended the zoom meeting, Jakić was elected as the new/old president of the Municipality of Šavnik on February 19.
The elections in Šavnik began on October 23, 2022, when they were held in 13 more municipalities, but were not completed because members of the polling stations from the opposition coalition For the Future of Šavnik did not allow some of the newly registered voters to vote because, they claim, they were copied to support the DPS. At two polling stations, in the Municipality building and in the village of Kruševice, where 541 voters have the right to vote, citizens went to the polls nine times, the last time on December 18, 2022, when the elections were interrupted again, after which the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) failed to reach an agreement with the MEC members to repeat the electoral process in the two mentioned places.
