Subsidies for extended school attendance for children, free public transport for pensioners and assistance to tenants are some of the measures that the "URA - Drugačije - Dušan Golović!" list promised to introduce in the first 100 days after taking power in Nikšić at today's press conference, where they presented their city development program for the next four years.
The leader of the list, Dušan Golović, pointed out, according to a statement the list submitted to the media, that their program is divided into two parts, the first relates to what their list plans to achieve in the first 100 days of taking power, while the second part relates to what they plan to achieve in their four-year mandate.
"In the first 100 days after taking power, the Nikšić URA will introduce 50% subsidies for extended stay for children from the first to third grade of primary school. In addition to this financial support, we will also improve the conditions for extended stay and thus provide an incentive for parents to employ them. Also, in the first 100 days, we will provide free public transportation for all pensioners. The third measure in the field of social policy that we plan to implement in the first 100 days is assistance to tenants in the amount of 50 to 100 euros. Aware of the problems they face, and this is not such a small number of people, we will allocate budget funds in the amount of 70.000,00 euros for this purpose," Golović said.
He added that, when it comes to tenants, the Nikšić URA plans to implement the "Housing for All" program, which, as he said, unfortunately the Government of Montenegro has not been listening.
"The citizens of Nikšić could thus secure a roof over their heads under conditions twice as favorable as market conditions, because apartments through the 'Housing for All' program would be at the construction cost, which is about 900 euros per square meter," Golović explained.
Candidate for councilor of GP URA, Ana Zorić, expressed her belief that their program is realistic and absolutely aligned with the needs of citizens, and that 80 percent of the items in the program can be implemented in the first year of the mandate, which according to her means that it is absolutely possible to reborn Nikšić in a period of four years.
"I would especially like to highlight the position of children with disabilities and their parents. That is why we at the Nikšić URE are determined to improve their status after taking power, by hiring personal assistants to help children with disabilities at our Day Care Center. The idea is that they regularly visit families, two or three times a week for a few hours, and in this way make life easier for them and their parents, and show them that they are not alone. We also plan to build a sensory park that would contribute to improving the quality of life of the youngest and become a model for future development projects aimed at the well-being of children and the community, because in today's urban environment, children are increasingly exposed to digital content and indoor spaces, so there is a need for innovative playgrounds that encourage their physical, mental and sensory stimulation," she emphasized.
When it comes to the GP URA program for agricultural development, Zorić announced that after taking power, she will form a special office to support agricultural producers when applying for European funds.
"The key shortcoming in the development of agriculture is precisely the insufficient support and assistance from the institutions of the system to our farmers in obtaining these funds. That is why our goal is to establish an office whose sole task will be to provide our farmers not only with information and education, but also with specific assistance in filling out application forms. In addition to establishing the office, we will also introduce numerous subsidies for agricultural producers. I would particularly highlight the increase in the subsidy for the purchase of milk from 4 to 6 cents per liter, as well as subsidies for our beekeepers in the amount of 7 to 10 euros per hive annually," explained Zorić.
Candidate for councilor Anđela Mijanović presented their program for the cultural and spatial transformation of Nikšić, as a modern, dynamic and creative city in which all citizens have the opportunity to express themselves, to contribute to their community, and to enjoy all the beauties that Nikšić offers, the statement said.
"The first step we will take is to open an Alternative Cultural Center in the House of Revolution. This center will be established with the aim of creating a space for young people, but also for all those who want to engage in alternative artistic expressions. The next step is to open a Natural History Museum in the old fire station building, under the Wall, in order to protect and present our rich natural heritage. We will continue to support existing festivals and events, and we will also initiate new ones, including 'Poetry Square' - an event that will provide an opportunity for poets, both recognized and those who are just entering the world of the written word, to share their creativity and enrich the cultural scene of our city. When talking about space, we cannot help but mention the Wall, which is a key symbol of our city. We plan to further develop cultural content on the Wall, such as an open-air cinema, classical music concerts, a jazz festival, but also fashion and theater events. We will further valorize this space, as well as organize a theater festival in honor of the great "A native of Nikšić, Veljko Mandić, whose legacy and contribution we must not forget," Mijanović promised.
Darko Nikolić, a candidate for councilor on that list, emphasized the potential that Nikšić has when it comes to congress and sports tourism.
"Nikšić has an excellent climate and sports facilities, a stadium, halls, a swimming pool, which are excellent conditions for holding sports preparations. Of course, we want to improve this, primarily through the implementation of projects that would give Nikšić all the prerequisites to become a city of congress and sports tourism. We will complete the construction of the congress hall in the House of Revolution, build new hotels and increase accommodation capacities, and complete the construction of the eastern stand of the city stadium," he is convinced.
The leader of the party, Dušan Golović, said that the implementation of these and numerous other items from their program will be their condition for forming a government in Nikšić.
"In addition, we will clearly move away from populism, nationalism, corruption and partitocracy. Nikšić must start differently, which is why I call on all our fellow citizens to round up our list under number 13 on April 5," concluded Golović.
