Interpol Podgorica: Dodik is not a citizen of Montenegro, we could not object to the arrest warrant being issued

Podgorica Interpol did not communicate with the General Secretariat of Interpol in the case of the President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik, because it has the right to do so only in cases involving citizens of Montenegro.

This was told to "Vijesti" by Interpol Podgorica, in response to the question - whether the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) had submitted an objection to Interpol regarding the request to issue an arrest warrant for Dodik or whether it had been involved in the case in any other way.

Interpol Podgorica said that the above issues are not within their jurisdiction.

"... Bearing in mind that Milorad Dodik is not a citizen of Montenegro. In addition, Montenegro currently does not have a Liaison Officer at the Interpol General Secretariat in Lyon. NCB Interpol Podgorica did not communicate with the Interpol General Secretariat in this specific case, as it has the right to do so only in cases concerning citizens of Montenegro," the response to "Vijesti" reads.

The President of the Republika Srpska said last night that Montenegro had also intervened to prevent Interpol from issuing an arrest warrant for him. He previously announced that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had called him to inform him that he had received a notification from the Interpol Directorate that Serbia's appeal had been upheld and that Interpol had rejected the request of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to issue a red arrest warrant for him and the President of the Republika Srpska National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić.
