Thanks to the initiative of the Europe Now Movement (PES) councilors' club, the prerequisites have been created for the constitution of the Capital City City Choir, so Podgorica will have something additional to be proud of, said Anđela Mićović, president of the PES councilors' club in the Capital City Assembly.
"As a movement that emphasizes the importance of cultural heritage as a foundation for social development and cultural identity, with the formation of the Podgorica City Choir, Podgorica will have something to be proud of on the cultural scene. In order to preserve the cultural heritage of the artistic society, which has marked the history of our city, nurturing the tradition of classical choral singing, the foundations of the new city choir will rely on the revitalization of the oldest Podgorica choir, the 'Stanko Dragojević' Cultural and Artistic Association. This society was not only a musical ensemble, but also a bearer of cultural values, and which melodiously contributed to the social cohesion of the community at that time for more than a century," Mićović stated in a statement sent to the media.
She emphasized that the new city choir will connect the present and the past, uniting people through art and contributing to the broader social context.
"The capital will carefully select the conductor and future members, and the intention is to form a commission composed of eminent musical representatives who will select the conductor and, in cooperation with him, select the members, organizing auditions. Podgorica, as the capital, deserves to have its own choir, which will represent it at future cultural events," concluded Mićović.
