Kovačević: We raised Nikšić from the ashes, the real results are yet to come

"Golija knows, and so does Nikšić, who has been destroying this city and this municipality for decades. The first four years were difficult - it was not easy to clear a path on the charred ground we found. But today we can say that we have raised Nikšić from the ashes, reached operating temperature, and that the real results are yet to come," said Marko Kovačević, the leader of the electoral list "For the Future of Nikšić" and the President of the Municipality of Nikšić, who visited the local community of Golija with the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković.

There, according to a statement from the "For the Future of Nikšić" list, they were welcomed by a large number of locals, and they presented the results of their work so far and plans for the future.

Kovačević pointed out that Nikšić has woken up from a severe, decades-long stagnation in the last four years. He stressed, as stated in the statement, that Golija has been on the local government's priority list for two and a half years and that each year a certain part of the budget will be allocated for the adaptation and paving of road infrastructure in that area.

"Only if we work and invest every year will we get where we need to go," said Kovačević.

In addition to infrastructure investments, he also highlighted the tourist and cultural potential of Golija, where the source of the Sava River is located - a symbol of religious and historical heritage, as stated in the statement of his list. He said that such sites will be of great importance within the framework of Nikšić's candidacy for the European Capital of Culture.

"Dear Golijani, thank you for decades of honorable struggle to defend our identity and sanctities. Thank you for helping us to remove the unpopular regime in 2020. Now is the time to continue to develop both Golija and Nikšić together... When you subtract DPS from the number 13, you are left with 10. Circle it with both hands and we are winning," Kovačević emphasized.

Joković, as stated in the statement, assessed that previous decades were marked by systemic collapse and neglect, while today, as he said, a true renewal is underway.

"What is happening in Nikšić is not an offensive, but a revival. What happened was an offensive against everything that was valuable. Instead of an economy, they left ashes. And now, step by step, Nikšić is being rebuilt," said the leader of the Socialist People's Party (SNP).

Joković emphasized that this is not just a pre-election visit, but a continuation of ongoing cooperation between the state, the municipality and the local community. He said that only by working together can the real problems of citizens be solved. He announced new incentives for agriculture, investments in forestry and projects that will improve life in rural areas like Golija.

"To ensure the survival of people in the countryside, we must invest. We are doing this and will continue to do so – because Golija deserves much more," concluded Joković.
