The Rena River, a precious water thread that flows through the center of Bar, yesterday carried cement, sand and shame into the sea, the political party Biram Montenegro-Biram Bar announced today.
"Some 'investors', without a shred of remorse, used it as a channel to wash away their greedy traces. Concrete mixers, construction machinery - instead of being cleaned in the designated places, they were washed right there, in the Rena, as if it were an ordinary drain. And, unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. The Rena carried tons of lime and other construction materials into the sea. And we must not forget the piles of garbage and waste that our fellow citizens gave it," the statement from Biram Crnu Goru-Biram Bar states.

The party, led by Radomir Novaković, added that the Željeznica River has been wounded for a long time.
"The murder of nature in silence. And all this in Bar – a city that prides itself on its sea, lake, mountains, canyons, palm trees. Our rivers and sea are paying the price of reckless urban sprawl and a misunderstanding of development," the Biram Crne Goru-Biram Bar party said in a statement.
They said that in the absence of infrastructure to keep up with the excessive accumulation of built-up areas, rivers are becoming flowing sewage into which, in the 21st century, septic tanks flow, all the way to the beaches and the sea.
"That's why we ask you today - do we love our city? If we watch the rivers die before our eyes, if we remain silent while the water turns into a gray stain of shame - can we really say that we love Bar? Because loving the city doesn't just mean walking along the waterfront and taking pictures of the sunset. Loving the city means protecting it. It means saying: ENOUGH! Enough of the dirt, enough of the carelessness, enough of the arrogance," said the people from I Vote Montenegro - I Vote Bar.
The party said today that they are demanding that inspections be urgently carried out and those responsible for the pollution of the Rena River punished, that permanent protective measures be provided for all watercourses in Bar, and that no river be used as a sewage system for profit ever again.
"Because if we don't defend our rivers today, tomorrow we will watch the sea become irreversibly muddy, nature disappear, and our children grow up in concrete ashes. We must not agree to that," said Biram Montenegro-Biram Bar.
