More than 200 people from Trebinje have been registered on the voter list in Nikšić, said the head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Andrija Nikolić, and said that he would not allow the opposition's victory in the upcoming local elections to be called into question.
At a press conference, he said that at this moment the parliamentary and local opposition in Nikšić has a convincing victory in that city.
"We will not allow the opposition's victory to be called into question through various mechanisms," Nikolić said.
He said that DPS has been informed that pressure has begun in state and local administrations and companies towards employees in the run-up to the elections, and called on all employees to contact them if they face such pressure.
Nikolić announced that the DPS legal team will provide these citizens with full legal protection.
He called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) to announce how many duplicate voters from Republika Srpska and Serbia they identified in Nikšić and Herceg Novi, and how many illegally registered voters they removed from the voter list.
"Over 200 people from Trebinje are currently identified in the Nikšić voter list. You are clear about the extent of the abuse," said Nikolić.
He said that a public event called the "Ostroški Half Marathon" was announced in Nikšić on election day, which, he said, is questionable from a legal perspective.
"In that sense, we reacted and sent letters to the Ministry of Interior and the State Election Commission," said Nikolić, adding that the event was registered at a time when it was not appropriate.
He pointed out that he expects the Ministry of Interior to not approve the event and to instruct the organizer to organize the event on another day.
Nikolić called on the citizens of Nikšić and Herceg Novi to turn out en masse for the elections and, as he said, not to allow the electoral will to be rewritten.
